sohla's recipe from basically. i didn't have the full amount of dates needed, only 80g, but i just added them to a sort of standard cinnamon roll filling of 1/2 stick softened butter + 50g toasted sugar. i used a little less than 2tsp of cinnamon and 1/8tsp cardamom. i saw someone recommend swapping cardamom for cinnamon which is an INSANELY IRRESPONSIBLE SUGGESTION. do not swap cardamom for cinnamon at a 1 to 1 ratio! your food will be INEDIBLE. 1/8 to 1/4 tsp at most!!! better is to steep whole pods in milk or butter and use that in some aspect of the recipe.
the finished dough in these was really good, definitely recommend following the recipe exactly for that part. my stand mixer didn't like the small amount of very sticky dough so i ended up kneading it by hand.
i don't get why she has you make these in a cast iron skillet besides the ~aesthetic. my 10 inch skillet (recommended in the recipe) was too small and it was hell trying to separate the buns so i just sliced the whole thing like a cake.
