yes, i too made the instagram coffee. i don't usually go out for coffee, maybe once or twice a month? i'm satisfied with my single cup of aeropress coffee that walker makes for me every morning, except the mornings i wake up before him and have to make it myself. but i am very bored and i own instant espresso powder (add it to chocolate cakes) and a handheld mixer, so obviously i was gonna try this once.

anyway, i liked this enough to make it again a couple days later. it definitely needs to be stirred before drinking since the sugary coffee foam tastes pretty bad on its own, imo. my recommendation: use a big mug (sorry, it's not ~aesthetic this way), stir it really well, and let it sit for a couple minutes to let the foam resettle. it's like a fake latte that way.

i did it like this video from future neighbor (i really like this channel, huh), except i halved everything since i'm not about to drink a double ever.

• i don't know if this is supposed to be a hot or cold drink, but for maximum fake latte, heat up some milk in a big mug in the microwave. i use oat or almond because i am a millennial and am obviously lactose intolerant.
• add 1 tbsp sugar, 1 tbsp instant coffee or espresso powder, and 1 tbsp hot water to a bowl.
• whip with a handheld mixer or a whisk until it becomes a thick foam. this takes me about 2 min using a handheld mixer, might take about 10 min by hand. keep going until it looks like the pictures. it'll lighten in color a lot.
• transfer the foam to the previously prepared mug of milk. stir it together and either drink right away or let it sit a minute for the foam to redistribute first.
